I dont think its all Whit's fault. When Weaver was there, the program was football centric. (basically he knew where the money was being generated, and he played football at Penn State). Therefore, other sports suffered.

Whit was hired by Stegar to present a more comprehensive athletic program, and he has with lots of facilities (baseball, tennis, track, etc). The feeling from Stegar, football is on automatic, no need for further effort. So other sports grew.m The nutrition facility is fall all not just football. Yeah they got a new expanded weight room, and new locker room but in today's market just ice on the cake.

Whit did that well, however, football has been flat lined and now so many programs are past us. What is needed is the plus up to keep up. its in the staffing and day to day operations. This includes management (like an associate ad for football, double the staffing for recruiting support (including technology tools), ensure assistant staff is pay market rate, not just what the head coach says. (get away from a asst coaching kitty, that the head coach portions out) but rather pay the best you can by position from special teams, to coordinator to every position. Project extensive recruiting networks into the neighborhoods and blocks in the major metropolitan areas and broaden the brand. Whit hired Fuente, while a good on paper was not a good fit, He came from a city school (memphis) with not a large state wide outreach and TCU, a wake forest type of school). He goes to a school where outreach is essential and its not just a note an email but a call a visit to a sports group calling football player veterans. etc. that's what a land grant school that plays football does.... (Frank was wonderful in this arena).

So anyway, its VT football 3.0 (1.0 beamer, 2.0 fuente and 3.0 ??) lets see if we can get it right in the changing world of college football
